SPELLBOUND

As the cauldron bubbled on the angry fire And spells were cast - dark and dire Her cackles echoed in the neighborhood She was definitely up to no good! Her wand twirled and twitched expertly As the black cat watched on hesitantly What gruesome ingredients would she need To make potions for infamy and greed! Perhaps an eye of a Targaerian dragon And some gold from Bu-yong's wagon A solitary hair from Dr Frankenstein A request he'd be certain to decline! A fingernail from the irrepressible Gandalf the White A drop of Vampire's blood in the dead of night A single tear from a mermaid from Whitecap Bay Or the flaky specks from the painting of Dorian Gray? As her incantations steadily grew loud The colourful smog had drawn a crowd Eager to see what she'd conjure today Would it lead to happiness or utter dismay! Just last week she procured a potion That had caused an absolute commotion The victim was the abominable Mayor Who ended up shedding all his bodily hair! And who could forget the events at the palace When the King drank from the poisoned chalice His skin turned green and then neon pink "Just deserts" for saying the witch does stink! But today, something felt very different The air was devoid of a mortifying current And was it my ears that were not working For I was certain I could hear her singing! Sure enough, a majestic, angelic voice emanated From the very house of the most hated! As sure, sweet tones began to magically float From the creaky depths of her wrinkled throat! Suddenly, the doors of her hut flung wide open And the crowd wildly stared at the strange apparition For, there stood a beautiful young dame Who curtsied to the crowd; and they did the same! Her magical smile shone as bright as the sun As her detractors and enemies had become mum What could they possibly do, say or shout She had single-handedly stolen their clout! Was she indeed real or had she cast a spell To get rid of her dastardly warts and horrid smell? We'll never know, for in the blink of an eye She got on her broomstick and vanished into the sky! DIAMOND

A rare, precious Diamond

You're one-in-a-million

Priceless and beautiful

Ravishing and really cool

Sparkling brilliance

Exuding elegance

Striking demeanour

Unmatched glamour

Your immaculate hair

Blowing everywhere

My heart-strings vibrate

Making my soul gyrate

Stylistic appearance

Rhythmic dance

Dazzling smile

Unmatched style

Your smile does infect

Impossible to deflect

I'm falling in a trance

I just wanna dance

Deep-rooted wisdom

Magical kingdom

Hypnotizing gaze

Unending craze

Your presence illuminates

Your passion incriminates

You're one-in-a-million

A rare, precious Diamond

GET LOST!

"Get Lost!" she vehemently cried

But the heavens said "access denied!"

A small victory and sure reprieve

To sit down and gently breathe

What torment and tragic tragedy

Had caused this bitter infamy

That left a stain upon my heart

And madly tore the heavens apart

An ancient curse from a dark abyss

Whispered in delight to bring bliss

And unleash devils upon the land

To stamp their evil with a fiery brand

As storms and tempests surely rage

The good folk must unite and engage

To battle the unspoken devilry

And win with pride and chivalry

Defeat now will spell a disaster

So, toil harder and train harder

To avoid defeat when darkness comes

So that ye may vanquish those bums

Words do indeed have potency

So utter with care and transparency

Wrong ones said out of angst and hate

Might permanently damage and berate

And some utterances are so potent

You can't take it back even if you repent

Mama said "think before you speak"

Or unprecedented havoc you'll wreak

If indeed words you must spout

And spread them all about

Make them good ones full of care

So they'll linger nicely in the air

WHAT IS LOVE?

What's this thing you call love

Makes you mad soon enough

Swimming in it, day and night

But nothing seems to go right

Expensive gifts and insomnia

To hear them call you "Dear"

Wasted words and emotion

For much unwanted commotion

Haddaway even wrote a song

And I don't think he was wrong

But sometimes you must ask

If it's truly an impossible task

Love can easily be misconstrued

Just come to my neighborhood

You'll see and surely come to trust

That love is oft confused with lust

The stories and tales of epic romance

Putting us in a dream-like trance

And it pains me to break it to you

They're mostly fictional and not true

Set in wonderful dance and colour

Nothing could possibly ever be truer

Let the feel-good emotions dissipate

Soon, real-life will habitually irritate

So, don't fall for the epic tales

They're lies like big fat whales

Designed only to mesmerize

Stealing your abilities to analyze

If love you must, then love thyself

With good food, company and health

Don't lose yourself and get old

Forever chasing what's fool's gold

DOWN BUT NOT OUT

I've been hit by a microscopic pathogen

Thought I'd escaped, but got hit again

I'm sinking deep like the Titanic

But I must be brave & not panic

I got hit by Van Helsing's curse

Get me a Dr or a pretty nurse

I need some meds and vitamin

Then it's off for 40 winks in my coffin

I'll live for I'm an immortal beast

Nothing can touch me from West to East

A few hours of slumber and I'll be back

Looking for juicy necks to attack

Gotta feed that deep primal urge

Which oft does make me a scourge

And it's what I am and how I roll

But right now the hunger's under control

I'm a Saint like the Boondock brothers

Cleaner than notorious motheryuckers

Like an Angel dressed in pristine white

Can't do no wrong - only good & right

They say I'm soft - losing my streak

That I'm a wannabee pale-assed freak

Just wait till they taste my two teeth

I'll make sure the world hears their shriek

I'll give myself up to the sister of death

Hoping I don't take my last breath

For there's much to do and conquer

After I wake up intact from my slumber

HATE vs LOVE

I feel like I'm at Hell's gate

Drowning in perpetual hate

Unending hurtful barrages

Keeps me wrapped in bandages

They've stooped to a new low

Where no mortal dared to go

The toxicity flows in their blood

But they're high - can't get enough

Using barbed words like Voodoo pins

Casting all goodness into the bins

They strike hard and deep - no mercy

No escape from their dark treachery

Call it fate, luck, providence or destiny

I need to flee fast from this tyranny

Must free myself from shackles of villainy

Before I'm placed in the halls of taxidermy

Let's join hands to rain on the haters' parade

Unite as one to end their paper-tiger charade

Let them vent, shout and kick up a fuss

Not too bothered if they even catch the bus

Mama always taught us not to discriminate

Our dictionary doesn't have the word "hate"

There's only an abundance of beautiful love

Come get some coz you can never get enough

WHY DO YOU

Why do you go

In the darkest of hours

I want you to know

I need your superpowers

Why do you cry

Over trifling matters

You gotta try

Ignore the mad hatters

Why do you seethe

Over spilt milk

Just try to breathe

Sweep away the guilt

Why do you care

About everything

Leave the lion's lair

Find a song to sing

Why do you sink

Into the arms of despair

Don't ever overthink

Go grab some fresh air

Why do you hate

Your heart's made for love

Don't discriminate

Loving yourself is enough

Why do you deny

The greatness in you

Next time don't cry

Smile with a happy hue

Why do you stare

At things from yesteryear

Nobody will care

So embrace the cheer
