SPELLBOUND

As the cauldron bubbled on the angry fire And spells were cast - dark and dire Her cackles echoed in the neighborhood She was definitely up to no good! Her wand twirled and twitched expertly As the black cat watched on hesitantly What gruesome ingredients would she need To make potions for infamy and greed! Perhaps an eye of a Targaerian dragon And some gold from Bu-yong's wagon A solitary hair from Dr Frankenstein A request he'd be certain to decline! A fingernail from the irrepressible Gandalf the White A drop of Vampire's blood in the dead of night A single tear from a mermaid from Whitecap Bay Or the flaky specks from the painting of Dorian Gray? As her incantations steadily grew loud The colourful smog had drawn a crowd Eager to see what she'd conjure today Would it lead to happiness or utter dismay! Just last week she procured a potion That had caused an absolute commotion The victim was the abominable Mayor Who ended up shedding all his bodily hair! And who could forget the events at the palace When the King drank from the poisoned chalice His skin turned green and then neon pink "Just deserts" for saying the witch does stink! But today, something felt very different The air was devoid of a mortifying current And was it my ears that were not working For I was certain I could hear her singing! Sure enough, a majestic, angelic voice emanated From the very house of the most hated! As sure, sweet tones began to magically float From the creaky depths of her wrinkled throat! Suddenly, the doors of her hut flung wide open And the crowd wildly stared at the strange apparition For, there stood a beautiful young dame Who curtsied to the crowd; and they did the same! Her magical smile shone as bright as the sun As her detractors and enemies had become mum What could they possibly do, say or shout She had single-handedly stolen their clout! Was she indeed real or had she cast a spell To get rid of her dastardly warts and horrid smell? We'll never know, for in the blink of an eye She got on her broomstick and vanished into the sky!
